How to create a Yahoo Mail app password
An app password is a separate key that lets one app read your Yahoo Mail without knowing your real password. You can delete it any time. Here is how to make one.
Before you start
- Use a browser where you sign in to Yahoo regularly. Yahoo can hide the option on a new browser.
- Do not use a private or incognito window.
Steps
- 1
Sign in to Yahoo on a browser you use every day, then open Account Security at login.yahoo.com/account/security.
- 2
Scroll to External connections and choose Create app password.
- 3
Type Declutter.ai as the app name and choose Generate password.
- 4
Copy the password Yahoo shows you. You will only see it once.
- 5
Paste it into the App password field on the Declutter.ai signup page and choose Yahoo as the provider.
Yahoo shows the password once. If you lose it, delete it and make a new one. Nothing breaks.
How to remove it later
Go back to Account Security, open the list of app passwords, and delete the one named Declutter.ai. Access stops right away. Changing your main Yahoo password does not remove app passwords, so delete it directly if you want to cut access.

Common questions
Why don't I see the option to create an app password?
Yahoo sometimes hides it on a browser it does not recognize yet. Sign in on a browser you use every day, not a private or incognito window, and try again.
Does an app password change my Yahoo password?
No. Your normal password stays the same. The app password is a separate key that you can delete any time.
Does it stop working if I change my Yahoo password?
No. Yahoo keeps app passwords active after a password change. Delete it from the same security page if you want to cut access.
