How to create an iCloud Mail app-specific password
Apple calls it an app-specific password. It lets one app read your iCloud Mail without your Apple Account password, and you can revoke it any time.
Before you start
- Your Apple Account needs two-factor authentication turned on.
- You can have up to 25 app-specific passwords at once.
Steps
- 1
Sign in at account.apple.com with the Apple Account that owns your iCloud Mail address.
- 2
Open Sign-In and Security, then App-Specific Passwords.
- 3
Choose Generate an app-specific password and name it Declutter.ai.
- 4
Copy the password Apple shows you. You will only see it once.
- 5
Paste it into the App password field on the Declutter.ai signup page and choose iCloud as the provider.
How to remove it later
In Sign-In and Security, open App-Specific Passwords and revoke the one named Declutter.ai. Changing your Apple Account password revokes all of them at once.

Common questions
Do I need two-factor authentication?

Does changing my Apple Account password break it?
Yes. Apple revokes every app-specific password when you change your main password. Create a new one and update it on your account page.
